Open space is now recognized as a key urban subsystem that plays an essential role in territorial organization, providing a broad range of environmental and social functions and contributing to the city’s spatial configuration. This paper addresses the treatment of open space in the context of spatial planning in Spain through the comparative analysis of twelve metropolitan-scale plans.
